Independence Day

Lo! To celebrate the Independence Day
Is to pay homage to the martyrs and great souls;
Hark! The sacrifices of the freedom fighters
As the untold stories of unsung heroes toll.

For this day, their blood they had shed
Determined to free their loving nation;
From the domain of colonial clutches
And bring a dawn bereft of subjugation.

Now our motherland flies with pride and grandeur
Like a free bird, out of the bars of captivity;
Singing out loud as the wind beneath beckons
Playing with morn’s rays amidst the vast canopy.

Behold the flight! Indeed a soothing glimpse to the eyes
As the world wonders at its resilience and tenacity;
Preserving the ethics and rich ideals of a land of diversity
Maintaining the cultural heritage, embarking on a great destiny.
