The Freedom We Hide

The cage opens
The sky is overcast
The birds rise into the sky

But do I have the freedom to hide?

The moon lights the ocean
The ships sink to the depths
Beneath the freedom of its light
Yet they remain trapped

The narrow paths of freedom
Rise from the darkened soul
Releasing untouched love
To finally free itself

Are we searching for a soul
When freedom consumes us
Where no cage can hold
And moonlight cannot mend?

Oh, am I a dying soul?
Remembering the wings of freedom
Where poetry echoes from the core
Where waves of freedom touch the inner self
Washing away the soul’s truth

Or is freedom the only thing worth dying for?
